About the event
A full solar eclipse is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and western PEI will be in the path of totality. North Cape is not only an ideal spot to watch the eclipse, it's also one of the most interesting natural areas on PEI. Join me ahead of the main event for a snowshoe (or hike, depending on conditions) along the North Cape trail to learn about the unique ecology of the area; we'll also identify wildlife tracks and sign if conditions allow. Bring a chair and dress for the weather so you're comfortable as we watch the eclipse, beginning at 3:30 pm. Important: ISO-certified eclipse glass are mandatory. You can learn more about which glasses are certified, and purchase yours here: https://eclipse2024.org/
This event is fully weather dependent, so registration won't open until two weeks (at most) before the date, and is subject to cancellation right up until the day. I'm also expecting this to be a popular spot for eclipse-watchers, so plan to come early and be prepared for traffic afterwards. It will be worth it!
