About the event
Prior to settlement in the 1720s, 98% of PEI was forested. By 1900, this had been reduced to 27%. While no areas of PEI remain completely untouched, we'll visit an example of forest on unploughed land - a site that has never been cleared and farmed. We'll look at some of the specialized plants (and a few fungi) that live there, and look at what old growth species and processes remain. As always, the walk is likely to include a few edible and medicinal species! Registration for this event will open a couple of weeks in advance and be limited to 15 people to ensure a quality experience.
